Roles and Responsibilites
1. Credit Strategy & Policy
- Define the overall credit vision, policy, and risk appetite for the organization.
- Build credit evaluation frameworks suited for a high-volume, tech-enabled business.
- Establish governance standards for credit limits, approval matrices, exposure controls, and risk mitigation.
2. Underwriting & Evaluation
- Lead end-to-end credit appraisal, including financial analysis, cash flow assessment, behavioural data, and partner performance metrics.
- Implement data-driven underwriting tools in collaboration with product and analytics teams.
- Drive automation and standardization of credit decisioning to balance scale and portfolio quality.
3. Portfolio & Risk Management
- Monitor portfolio performance, ageing, delinquency trends, write-offs, and early warning indicators.
- Build dashboards for exposure tracking, portfolio segmentation, and risk analytics.
- Develop and oversee collection strategies with internal teams and external partners.
4. Process Excellence & Compliance
- Establish strong internal controls, documentation standards, and audit-ready processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory norms, and risk guidelines.
- Continuously optimize processes to reduce losses and improve turnaround times.
5. Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with business, finance, product, operations, and technology teams to align credit decisions with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with product/tech to embed credit workflows, automated rules, and monitoring triggers within the platform.
6. Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing credit and risk team.
- Drive capability development, performance management, and functional excellence.
Skills and qualifications
- CA / MBA Finance from a Tier-1 or Tier-2 institute preferred.
- 10–15 years of experience in credit, underwriting, portfolio management, or risk—preferably in fast-scaling tech-led companies, fintech, NBFCs, or consumer-facing platforms.
- Candidates with prior experience managing SME, MSME, or corporate finance credit portfolios.
- Strong exposure to credit evaluation, financial analysis, risk modelling, and governance.
- Experience in high-volume partner or vendor ecosystems is a plus.
