Our client is a scaled, publicly listed financial services platform with a strong legacy in capital markets and retail participation. Over the years, the firm has built a deep on-ground presence, particularly across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, anchored in trust, distribution strength, and a large active client base.
Having successfully grown its core businesses both organically and through selective inorganic expansion, the firm is now entering its next phase of evolution. The focus is on building long-term, annuity-led businesses that complement its existing ecosystem and deepen wallet share across customers beyond pure broking and trading.
With strong capital backing, a growing national footprint, and a clear ambition to scale responsibly, the organisation is now incubating a new wealth management vertical as a strategic growth engine.
Roles and Responsibilites
This is a rare opportunity to build a wealth management business from the ground up within an established financial services platform. The wealth arm is a newly created unit with a clear mandate: scale sustainably, achieve break-even within 2–3 years, and build a profitable, distribution-led wealth franchise over the long term.
The role offers full ownership of the wealth business, from strategy to execution. The incoming leader will be responsible for designing the business model, setting up teams and processes, building distribution, and shaping the culture. This is not a “maintain and optimise” role; it is a true builder’s mandate.
Key Responsibilities
Define the overall vision, strategy, and operating model for the wealth management business.
Build the business from zero to scale, including product architecture, distribution strategy, and revenue model.
Set up teams across sales, advisory, operations, compliance, and product, with a strong on-ground execution mindset.
Create and scale a large, relationship-led distribution model, with a strong emphasis on Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.
Leverage the parent platform’s existing client base, brand, and infrastructure to drive cross-sell and acquisition.
Own P&L responsibility and drive the business to break-even within 2–3 years.
Establish governance, compliance, and risk frameworks in line with regulatory expectations.
Work closely with senior leadership and the board to align growth with the broader group strategy.
Skills and qualifications
A seasoned wealth management leader with experience building or scaling businesses, not just running mature platforms.
Strong preference for traditional, relationship-driven leaders with deep distribution experience, rather than a purely digital or tech-first background.
Proven exposure to Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, having built teams, clients, and franchises in these geographies.
Experience in ground-up execution, including hiring teams, setting up branches or hubs, and driving productivity.
Entrepreneurial DNA with the ability to operate in ambiguity, make hands-on decisions, and build with limited templates.
Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of profitability, unit economics, and long-term value creation.
Ability to balance growth ambition with regulatory discipline and customer trust.
