About the Company

Our company pre-Series organization focused on scalable, science-backed solutions at the intersection of agriculture and climate impact, operating across emerging markets with a strong mission-led approach.

Roles and Responsibilites

-Establish the organization’s first formal finance function, including policies, controls, reporting, and governance frameworks.

-Partner with the Founder/CEO on financial strategy, runway management, and long-term sustainability.

-Build multi-year financial models covering burn, runway, scenario planning, and scale pathways.

-Own annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash-flow management across programs and geographies.

-Deliver timely, accurate management and board reporting.

-Define and monitor early-stage metrics including burn efficiency, unit economics, and cost-based performance indicators.

-Implement fit-for-purpose financial controls suitable for a pre-Series organization.

-Ensure compliance with statutory, donor, and partner requirements across jurisdictions.

-Lead audits, financial reviews, and diligence processes.

-Support fundraising through financial modeling, investor materials, and data-room readiness.

-Manage grants and donor funds, including budgeting, utilization tracking, and reporting.

-Act as the primary finance interface for investors, donors, auditors, and external advisors.

-Manage treasury, liquidity, and working capital to optimize runway.

-Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks associated with early-stage scaling.

-Select and implement finance systems and tools appropriate for early growth and future scale.

-Drive automation and process rigor without adding unnecessary complexity.

-Operate initially as a hands-on individual contributor, with responsibility to build and lead the finance team as the organization scales.

-Partner closely with operations, science, and program teams to balance financial discipline with innovation.

Skills and qualifications

Background & Experience

-10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership roles.

-Experience building finance functions in early-stage or high-growth environments strongly preferred.

Preferred industry backgrounds

Agri-tech / agri-input / agri-supply chain organizations

Large Indian conglomerates with complex, multi-entity operations

Commodity trading, agri-commodities, or global trading businesses

Capabilities

Strong expertise across FP&A, controllership, treasury, governance, and investor readiness.

Comfort operating in ambiguous, low-structure environments.

Ability to move seamlessly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
