Roles and Responsibilites
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Planning & Strategy
- Own end-to-end supply chain planning including demand planning, supply planning, capacity
planning, and inventory optimization.
- Align supply chain strategy with business growth plans, sales forecasts, and production
capabilities.
- Drive S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process and ensure cross-functional alignment.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Establish inventory norms to balance service levels and working capital.
- Oversee warehousing operations including storage, handling, accuracy, and safety.
- Reduce slow-moving and obsolete inventory through data-driven actions.
Production Planning & Control (PPC)
- Lead production planning to ensure optimal utilization of plants, manpower, and machinery.
- Monitor production schedules to meet delivery commitments and minimize bottlenecks.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to improve throughput and reduce cycle times.
Logistics & Distribution
- Manage primary and secondary logistics operations for domestic and/or international
markets.
- Optimize transportation costs, routes, and delivery timelines.
- Ensure OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance and customer service excellence.
Process Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, automation, and digitization.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Drive cost reduction across logistics, warehousing, and inventory holding.
Systems & Data Management
- Ensure effective use of ERP/SAP and supply chain analytics for decision-making.
- Implement dashboards and KPIs for performance monitoring.
- Drive data accuracy across supply chain processes.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and HR teams.
- Act as a key interface between plant operations and business leadership.
- Support customer escalations related to delivery, availability, and fulfilment.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop supply chain teams across locations.
- Build succession pipelines and enhance functional capability.
- Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and internal governance requirements.
- Strengthen business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Management
- Lead end-to-end management of Third-Party Logistics (3PL) partners across primary,
secondary and last-mile distribution.
- Define service-level agreements (SLAs), KPIs and governance mechanisms for 3PL partners.
- Conduct periodic performance reviews covering cost, service levels, compliance and safety.
- Drive standardization of logistics processes across locations through 3PL integration.
- Manage escalations and ensure continuity of operations during demand surges or
disruptions.
Depot & Distribution Network Setup (PAN-India)
- Design and implement depot and distribution network strategy for PAN-India product
launches and business expansion.
- Lead end-to-end depot setup including location finalization, capacity planning, layout design,
and operational readiness.
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Finance, Legal, IT) for depot
onboarding and go-live.
- Ensure statutory, safety, and compliance requirements are met for all depots.
- Enable scalability by building flexible depot models aligned with future growth.
Freight Cost Optimization & Reduction
- Own freight cost strategy across inbound, outbound, and inter-plant movements (excluding
procurement negotiations).
- Identify and execute freight optimization levers such as route rationalization, load
optimization, mode mix, and network redesign.
- Drive data-based freight benchmarking and cost-to-serve analysis.
- Implement transportation analytics and dashboards to monitor freight cost trends and
variances.
- Deliver sustained freight cost reduction while maintaining service levels and delivery
commitments.

Skills and qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering / Operations / Supply Chain / MBA (preferred)
- 15–20+ years of experience in supply chain operations
- Strong exposure to manufacturing, logistics, and planning in multi-location setups
- Hands-on experience with ERP/SAP and analytics-driven supply chain management
