Roles and Responsibilites

  • Lead the direct and indirect taxation function, overseeing compliance across income tax, GST, customs, transfer pricing, and international tax matters.
  • Design and implement tax-efficient structures for domestic and cross-border transactions while advising leadership on tax implications of key business decisions.
  • Review and finalize tax filings, audits, and regulatory submissions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to statutory requirements.
  • Act as the principal legal advisor to senior leadership, overseeing compliance with corporate, regulatory, and statutory frameworks.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, strategic agreements, and key vendor or partner arrangements.
  • Manage tax, commercial, labour, and regulatory litigation, coordinating with external counsels and advisors.
  • Strengthen corporate governance, risk management, and internal compliance processes across the organization.
  • Partner with business teams on strategic initiatives including cross-border operations, supply chain structures, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor the in-house legal and tax teams, while managing relationships with external advisors and consultants.

Skills and qualifications

  • LLB is mandatory; additional qualifications such as CA, LLM, or MBA (Finance) preferred.
  • 15-25 years of post-qualification experience, with prior leadership exposure across legal and taxation functions.
  • Strong expertise in Indian direct and indirect tax laws, corporate laws, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience handling tax structuring, regulatory compliance, and complex litigation matters.
  • Exposure to cross-border transactions, international operations, and FEMA/RBI regulations preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to support business and growth initiatives.
  • Proven ability to engage with senior leadership, Board members, regulators, and external advisors.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with high integrity and risk awareness.
