Roles and Responsibilites
-Develop and execute procurement strategies for grains including barley, maize, wheat, rice, and other agricultural commodities.
-Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including supplier identification, evaluation, negotiations, contracting, and vendor performance management.
-Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, aggregators, traders, mandis, FPOs, and suppliers across sourcing regions.
-Ensure uninterrupted supply of quality raw materials while optimising procurement costs.
-Monitor commodity markets, pricing trends, crop forecasts, weather patterns, and government policies affecting grain procurement.
-Drive commercial negotiations to achieve favourable pricing, payment terms, and long-term supply agreements.
-Collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and quality teams for procurement planning and inventory optimisation.
-Ensure compliance with procurement policies, statutory regulations, food safety standards, and quality specifications.
-Identify opportunities for process improvements, procurement digitisation, and supply chain efficiencies.
-Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team while fostering a high-performance culture.
Skills and qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Food Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business -Administration, or a related discipline. An MBA is preferred.
-12–18 years of progressive procurement experience, with significant exposure to grain or agricultural commodity sourcing.
-Strong understanding of agricultural supply chains, commodity procurement, and procurement planning.
-Proven experience in commercial negotiations, supplier development, and contract management.
-Strong analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
-Ability to interpret commodity market dynamics and make data-driven sourcing decisions.
-Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is preferred.
-Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
