Roles and Responsibilities

• Dashboard & Report Development
• Design, develop, and publish Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards aligned to business KPIs and requirements.
• Build visually compelling, user-friendly, and performance-optimised reports for business and executive audiences.
• Create and manage Power BI datasets, data models, and calculated measures using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and manage report access in alignment with data governance policies.
• Data Modelling & Integration
• Develop and maintain robust data models in Power BI using star and snowflake schema design principles.
• Connect and integrate data from multiple sources including SQL databases, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, Azure, and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
• Write optimised SQL queries and stored procedures to support reporting and analytics needs.
• Collaborate with data engineers to define and consume data from data warehouses and data marts.
• Data Quality & Governance
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data presented in all reports and dashboards.
• Apply data transformation and cleansing logic using Power Query (M Language).
• Maintain thorough documentation of data models, report logic, and data lineage.
• Adhere to data governance standards and promote best practices across the BI environment.
• Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate requirements into effective BI solutions.
• Present and explain data findings and dashboard functionality to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing reports and introduce new analytical perspectives.
• Support end-users through training, documentation, and ongoing troubleshooting.
• Performance & Optimisation
• Monitor and optimise Power BI report performance, including DAX query tuning and dataset refresh schedules.
• Manage Power BI Service workspaces, apps, gateways, and deployment pipelines.

Skills and qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Power BI development and business intelligence.
• Strong proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for complex measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
• Solid experience with Power Query / M Language for data transformation and cleansing.
• Proficient in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and performance tuning.
• Experience with data modelling concepts (star schema, snowflake schema, fact and dimension tables).
• Hands-on experience with Power BI Service — managing workspaces, apps, RLS, and scheduled refreshes.
• Ability to work with diverse data sources: relational databases, flat files, REST APIs, cloud platforms.
