About the Company
The Family Office of a prominent Indian business group, managing the private investment portfolio and strategic interests of the promoter family. Among its key holdings is a fast-growing pharmaceutical and API manufacturer with a strong footprint in specialty chemicals and regulated global markets. As the family office takes a more active role in shaping the company's next phase of growth, it is looking to bring on board a sharp, analytically driven Consultant/Analyst to support this agenda.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Analytically driven Consultant/Analyst who will report directly to and guide the Managing Partner of the family office — who also sits on the Board of — on all matters related to the pharma portfolio.
- The role demands someone with deep pharma industry knowledge, strong analytical horsepower, and the polish of a top-tier consulting background. You will be expected to understand both the science and the business of pharma — from API manufacturing and regulatory frameworks to commercial strategy and capital allocation.
- Strategic Advisory & Analysis
- Develop frameworks and strategic analyses to support investment and operational decisions relating to the company
- Conduct deep-dives into pharma sector trends, API markets, competitive landscape, regulatory shifts, and emerging opportunities
- Prepare high-quality Board-level presentations, memos, and strategic briefs on behalf of the Managing Partner
- Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable narratives for senior management and the Board
- Managing Partner Support & Advisory
- Act as the articulation layer between the Managing Partner and the Board — structuring thoughts, crystalizing decisions, and driving follow through
- Understand the mindset, priorities, and concerns of Board members and top management; help the Managing Partner navigate these effectively
- Facilitate strategic conversations, prepare agendas, and ensure alignment between family office intent and portfolio company direction
- Implementation & Execution Oversight
- Track strategic initiatives at RL Fine Chem against defined milestones; flag risks and course-correction needs proactively
- Liaise with functional heads at RL Fine Chem on strategy execution — manufacturing scale-up, capacity planning, BD, and regulatory compliance
- Support the Managing Partner in evaluating new pharma investments, partnerships, or adjacency opportunities
- Research & Market Intelligence
- Maintain updated views on the Indian and global pharma/API landscape, including CDSCO, USFDA, and EU regulatory dynamics
- Build market intelligence on specialty APIs, CDMO trends, CMO landscapes, and generics pricing environments
- Identify benchmarks, best practices, and peer comparisons relevant to strategic positioning
Skills and qualifications
- 7–10 years of total professional experience, with a primary background in pharma or healthcare consulting at a Tier-1 firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain; PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG; ZS Associates, IQVIA, or equivalent)
- Direct industry exposure to pharma operations, API manufacturing, or healthcare delivery — either through client engagements or prior stints in the sector — is essential
- Sound understanding of the API value chain, formulations landscape, and specialty pharma segments
- Familiarity with CDSCO, USFDA, and GMP compliance frameworks
- Working knowledge of CDMO/CMO business models, pharma licensing, and technology transfer
- Awareness of capital markets, M&A, and fund structures in the pharma context is a plus
- Candidates who combine a consulting pedigree with hands-on pharma/healthcare industry exposure will be strongly preferred over those with consulting experience alone
- Prior exposure to family offices, closely held businesses, or promoter-led organizations is a plus
- MBA from a top-tier institution (IIMs, ISB, XLRI, or equivalent Tier-1 B-school)
- Background in pharmacy, life sciences, chemical engineering, or a related technical field is highly preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication — capable of crafting Board-level documents independently
- High analytical rigor with strong financial modelling and data interpretation skills
- Ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment with limited institutional structure
- Comfort working in a small, lean team close to the Managing Partner — equal parts thinker and doer
- Executive presence and the ability to engage credibly with senior management and Board members
